In November 2022, the two designers sent each other the first pieces of work, initiating a five-month exchange journey. The game set two rules: first, respond to the other's work every week; second, no other forms of communication are allowed, and all creations must be based solely on one's own understanding and imagination of the other's work. This exhibition marks Takada and Motoki's first collaboration, showcasing the two sets of 28 pieces created during this five-month journey, all meeting with the audience in Hangzhou.
Two designers engage in a relay-like exchange, interpreting and recreating each other's work. Like an infinite stage, it's a creative journey of imagination. This is not only a "translation" game between Yui Takada and Daisuke Motoki but also a low-dimensional "translation" presentation of what seems to be a mysterious creative process. Through this "translation" journey, we aim to explore not the professional intricacies of design but the structural origins, the ultimate imagination of who designs and for whom.
